Atlas Copco is expanding its presence in the US semiconductor market

Atlas Copco has entered into an agreement to acquire Cere Technologies, a US manufacturer of gas and steam delivery equipment for the semiconductor industry.

News of the planned acquisitions comes amid supply concerns in the semiconductor market, in the wake of increased demand and, more recently, the war between Ukraine and Russia.

The acquisition also includes the purchase of two affiliates: North Park Metalworkers and Peak Precision Technologies. Together, the companies have about 185 employees.

Geert Follens, President of the Vacuum Technique Business Area, said, “Ceres provides critical subsystems of process tools complementary to Edwards’ vacuum and reduction solutions for the semiconductor industry.”

“This acquisition will allow us to expand our liquid chemical distribution offering globally through additional technology and know-how. The acquisition of Ceres is also a valuable step forward in responding to the growing need to recycle and reuse gas in semiconductor process technology and in improving sustainability in line with the industry’s environmental objectives. ”

Atlas Copco expects to close the acquisition in the second quarter of 2022. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

Upon acquisition, Ceres Technologies and its affiliates will form part of the semiconductor division within the business area of Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique.
